Governor, Babatunde Fashola has recommended the creation of more local government in the country, as a viable means to boost development, at grassroots. Governor, Fashola said if that was embraced, most developmental indices by which the country is adjudged as underdeveloped country would be reduced. Action Congress has denied the reported feud between Governor, Babatunde Fashola and his predecessor, Bola Tinubu. Addressing newsmen at the former governor’s, residence Bourdillion,Ikoyi, AC National Chairman, Bisi Akande said the cordiality between both parties was intact. He added that Governor Fashola is the anointed disciple of Asiwaju Tinubu. Meanwhile, A Group, under the aegis of “The New Face of Lagos” has risen in defence of Governor, Babatunde Fashola, following criticisms trailing his administration. The group publicity secretary,Tokunbo King said governor Fashola has shown in words and deeds that he is genuine in erecting an enduring legacy, as evident in the infrastructural transformation in the state. There are indications that the Federal Government may stop the State Government from going ahead with its plans to expand the Badagry Expressway, to a 10-way carriage road. Governor Babatunde Fashola has concluded plans to expand the 48- year -old expressway from the current four lanes with provisions for light rail and Bus Rapid Transit System. The Bi-Courtney Project Implementation Committee on Rehabilitation and Modernisation of Lagos-Ibadan expressway has recorded a number of achievements since the project was flagged off in September 2009. Chairman of the Committee, Olusegun Ahmadu said temporary trailer parks had been provided on different locations along the road. Finally, hundreds of residents of Ishefun community in Ipaja-Ayobo Local Council Development Area have protested alleged demolition of their houses by officials of the state government. Secretary of Isefun Council Development Association, Ademola Tejumola said the land, which the state government allegedly acquired, has already being relocated, to individuals in the state. |
