The State Govt has assured residents of a flooding-free season this year. PDF Print E-mail
The State Government has assured residents of a flooding-free season this year, as it has procured flood fighting equipment, which would be deployed in all flood prone areas.

Commissioner for Environment, Muiz Banire noted that the procurement of the equipment was in line with the State’s promise of a flood free Lagos, during the rainy season.

Meanwhile, residents of Mile 12, in Lagos, have appealed to relevant authorities, to construct a drainage system in the area, to prevent flooding, during the rainy season.

Some residents said flood could sack them from their homes, if drainages were not constructed fast.      

An NGO, Centre for Happy Elderly People has urged medical practitioners, to give more care to the elderly.

CHEP Coordinator, Lilian Jiringho, told newsmen in Lagos that Federal Government needed to review its laws and polices on the care for the aged.

The State Government has issued a 3-month deadline starting from today, to allottees of Green Gate Residential Scheme, Isiu, Ikorodu, to take physical possession or have it revoked.

Permanent Secretary, Lands Bureau, Gbenga Ashafa said not taking possession of lands by allottees have turned the entire residential scheme into a forest.

Three suspected members of separate robbery gangs have been arrested in Mushin, following raids by policemen on some criminal hideouts in the State.

The policemen reportedly recovered a total of 12 assorted guns, 188 swords, three sledge hammers and various charms.The raids were carried out by policemen from Area D.

Yaba Chief Magistrate's Court has granted bail, to a commercial bus driver, Ganiyu Sarafadeen, charged with killing a six-year-old boy.

Chief Magistrate, Demi Ajayi granted the accused bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties, after he pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge of manslaughter.

He was accused of killing the boy and injuring his father and sister, while driving dangerously on a public highway.
